100 things that I love about College Football

Kevin Duffey of Saturday Down South wrote an amazing article about 100 things that he loved about college football, and I felt inspired. So here’s a 100 things that I love about college football (including, of course, the SEC!). And this is no particular order. That college football came back after it looked like COVID-19 would shut it all down. College Gameday. That moment when it starts, and you get the ‘Welcome to….” and you take a deep breath and get excited, very quickly. At last, your Saturday is starting. Fox’s show is fine, but Gameday is Gameday. Rivalry games. No.1 best rivalry title? “The Holy War” (Utah vs BYU), although ‘The Civil War’ and “Good, Ole Fashioned-Hate” comes close. “Red

An extremely early preview of Georgia vs Clemson 2021

It’s a steamy August night, and one side of Bank of America stadium’s orange, and the other side’s red. Georgia’s coming off another year of not winning a National Championship, and Clemson’s just celebrated another one, beating Ohio State in a firecracker of a game. Now they get together to start the 2021 College Football season. It’s the game that everyone’s been talking about since the National Championship ended in January. Some might say that the powers-that-be in the SEC should have gotten this game earlier, by giving a ton of money to Clemson to move to the SEC East, and forgetting about Missouri altogether. Still, it didn’t happen, and the rest is history. Anyway, the present. Both sets of

GOATS and Goats: Grading (Some of) the National Championship Players

Right, so the National Championship game had some heroes on both sides – and it had some G.O.A.T.S. and it had some goats. Don’t despair Alabama fans – not all your players were terrible, and don’t get too hot Clemson fans – some of your players were pretty ordinary. So here we go: EXCEPTIONAL Trevor Lawrence (Clemson): As repeated ad nauseum on our Twitter page, Lawrence may look like a giraffe throwing a javelin, but boy, does he do it well. He wasn’t wonderful in the first quarter, but he warmed up and took Alabama apart. This was helped by some circus catches from his secondary, but heck, this was a Future Heisman Of 2019 performance. Travis Etienne (Clemson): Etienne is

Alabama – Clemson IV: A very quick National Championship Game preview

This Monday is the College Football finale between two teams that EVERYBODY thought would get there: Alabama and Clemson. It’s no secret that both teams are amazing. Both teams are stacked with first round draft picks. Both teams have five-star quarterbacks who been revelations. Both teams have insanely good wide receivers and running backs. And their defenses? Whoa. The only bad thing about the National Championship is that it’s going to be played in Santa Clara, California. My brother – who lives there – said to me: “Why in the hell are they having a massive college football game during rush-hour on a weekday? The place is hard to get to and isn’t a great stadium experience? The 49ers can’t even fill

Top 10 Non-SEC National Title Contenders

Sad as we may say, there are National Title Contenders outside of the SEC. And yes, we know they actually exist. Anyway, so here we go: Clemson: Dabo Swinney won one a couple of a seasons ago, and the Tigers’ defense is going to be an absolute beast this year. Oh, and offensively they’ll be pretty good too. We expect them to beat Texas A&M, walk the ACC, and win their home game at season-end against South Carolina. Ohio State: Urban Meyer’s a horrible piece of human garbage, but his QB Dwayne Haskins is the real deal. The school also churns out talented player after talented player. Unless they play Iowa. Oklahoma: The Sooners have an insanely talented coach in Lincoln

National Championship Game Preview: Will Alabama beat Clemson?

The final day of the college football season is always the most miserable one: Because it’s all ending until September. Sure, we at the SEC Football Blog will be writing copy on recruiting, spring games, ranking coach hires, watching as Will Muschamp goes from hero to zero to hero again after one Spring Game, Nick Saban grumbling his way through the summer, and trying to work out new ways of drinking bourbon all day during Saturdays and still writing comprehensive tweets, but it’s not the same. College Football 2015 is over. The good news for SEC fans is that Alabama’s in the National Championship Game, and they are playing Clemson. Alabama’s favoured by seven points by Vegas. It’s OK to

Who’s Going To Win The Iron Bowl? SEC ‘Rivalry Week’ Predictions

If you hadn’t noticed, this week in the SEC has its fair share of antagonism. And we love it. On all three days of the Thanksgiving Holiday. And you know what? We’re thankful for it! We love Alabama fans screwing with Auburn fans, and vice-versa. With both proving equally touchy. We love Ole Miss and Mississippi State fans screwing with each other. With both proving equally touchy. We love South Carolina and Clemson fans screwing with each other. Or more’s the case, Steve Spurrier screwing with Dabo Swinney, and Swinney desperately trying to rise above it. Which he’s failing to do. We love Florida and Florida State screwing with each other, with Florida students, despite their school’s record, thanking God
