At last, the Tigers Roar (and so do the Tide and Gators!): Week 7 Rankings

Right, it’s been a mad week in College Football – so much so that we’re going to rank our Top 14 straight away. Without further ado, here’s where we are: 1) Alabama – Rolled to a 28-point lead over Missouri until the rains came. Then looked really scrappy, but the Tide dealt with the tests. And news just in: Eddie Lacy’s a beast. And so is that defensive line. 2) Florida – It wasn’t pretty against Vanderbilt, but it was effective. Jeff Driskell’s beginning to (whisper) remind people of (whisper) Tim Tebow. Oh, and that defense is as good as we thought they were. We’ll see how good the offensive line is against South Carolina. That game’s going to be

Two Death Valleys? SEC Week 7 Preview

If there’s a pot, Steve Spurrier will be there to stir it. This week, Steve Spurrier hammered Georgia (both with mouth and with team), and hammered Clemson (“My boys haven’t been to Death Valley before“, he opined on the radio). This week, he’s going to hell. Quite possibly to prepare him for the afterlife, Clemson fans might say. Anyways, here’s an excerpt from a poem that our boy Alfred, Lord Tennyson prepared for South Carolina’s trip to Death Valley, Baton Rouge: “Half a league, half a league, Half a league onward, All in the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. “Forward, the Light Brigade! “Charge for the guns!” he said: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.”

Lazy Saturday? Not us! SEC Rankings 1-14 After Week 6

After hammering y’all with country music, we decided to chill out a little bit for the soundtrack to the next load of rankings – it’s a dance track called ‘Lazy’. If you don’t enjoy it, sorry. Anyway, with this in mind, here’s our SEC Power Rankings After Week 6, where there’s been more than a little change. 1) Alabama – Nick Saban is all-powerful – so much so that HE WANTS NO HUDDLE OFFENSES STOPPED. So is this Alabama program at the moment. The question: How would they do against an Oregon or West Virginia? Quite well, we think… 2) South Carolina – I thought Florida was the pick of the SEC East until I saw South Carolina demolish Georgia

Gators, Gamecocks crow as Georgia, LSU stumble: 10 Points about Week 6

Wow. On ‘Moving Day’ in the SEC, the elevator up took South Carolina and Florida, and on the way down it took Georgia, LSU, and Auburn as it fell. Anyway, here’s some 10 points about Week 10 in the SEC. And the music we’re going to bring with it is Brad Paisley’s ‘Southern Comfort Zone’. If you love your NASCAR, you’ll love some of the noises at the start. 1) South Carolina absolutely crucified Georgia. It wasn’t the scoreline (35-7) that astonished us, but it was the brutish manner that the Gamecocks did it in one of the noisiest arenas in the SEC. Jadeveon Clowney and Devin Taylor humiliated Georgia’s offensive line, limited Aaron Murray to 11-31 for just 109

Amen, Sister!! SEC Rankings 1-14 After Week 5

This blog site’s SEC ranking ain’t gonna change the world. But they are a lot of fun to do – and we’ll supply reasons, too! Anyway, here’s our 1-14. There are some changes, but Lord knows how many. The soundtrack is Kid Rock’s “Only God Knows Why”. 1) Alabama – Only God Knows Why this team is so, so good. Is it Saban? Is it luck? Is it the coaching staff in its entireity? Is it team spirit? 2) South Carolina – Because Only God Knows Why this team was so awful in the first half on Saturday against Kentucky, and so great in the second. 3) Georgia – Only God Knows if the Dawgs are going to sort out their

LSU, UGA’s Secondary Whimpers While Texas A&M Roars: SEC Week 5

Everyone talked before this week started that Week 5 was going to be one of the duller on College Football’s calendar – and maybe in college football’s history (ESPN love to do overdo it, don’t they?). Many felt that College Gameday SHOULD have gone down South to Texas at Oklahoma State or Baylor at West Virginia, but instead went to Ohio State at Michigan State. Or to Sanford Stadium for the Tennesee – Georgia game. But they whiffed. Instead they chose an out-an-out war between OSU and MSU, worthy of the ‘old days’ of college football where we loved brawn and battle, while all the three other games we’ve mentioned showed a ton of excitement and no defensive discipline at
